DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION :
Primary ( sensitising ) Revaccination
dose dose
Cattle 5 ml 3 ml
Sheep 3 ml 2 ml
The container should be shaken well before doses are withdrawn . Administration is by subcutaneous injection. An initial course of immunisation is necessary comprising a primary (sensitizing) dose and a second dose which creates good immunity . The interval between these doses should be not less than 3 weeks. The primary course should be completed about 2 weeks before maximum immunity is required which may be either a period of high risk or during calving . calves born from cattle immunized with bivalent vaccine two weeks before calving should be protected until they are about 8 weeks of age . Because of the presence of maternally - derived antibodies, which may interfere with vaccination, these calves should not be vaccinated until they are 8 weeks of age. Calves born from cattle vaccinated with a 5 ml sensitizing dose should not be given their first dose of bivalent until they are 10-12 weeks of age, because the extended presence of maternally - derived antibodies may interfere with earlier vaccination . Revaccination is required at 6 monthly intervals for continuous protection, but if the risk is seasonal annual vaccination may suffice.

PRECAUTION :
Part - used bottles should be disposed of at the end of each day’s operation, as under field conditions it may be difficult to avoid accidental contamination of the vaccine .
