Brucella Abortus

COMPOSITION :
Each dose of reconstituted vaccine contains 3-10 x109 CFU of Brucella abortus Strain 19 .

PACKAGE :
Vials 10 ml contains 10 reduced doses of lyophilized vaccine
( 3-10 x 109 CFU / dose ( accompanied with 20 ml diluent .

INDICATIONS AND DOSAGE :
After reconstitution with the accompanied diluent, it should contain 3-10 x 109 CFU viable organisms per 2 ml dose,given subcutaneously to female calves between 3 to 8 months old .
This dose level produces smaller serological responses in calves . Cattle over the age of 8 months may not be vaccinated against brucellosis except with the written approval of a state veterinarian . Cows in advanced pregnancy may abort if vaccinated ,but abortion rate may be only about 1% .

ADVERSE REACTIONS :
These occur rarely in both calves and adults , to be more
sever in foreign breeds.
* A local swelling occurs particularly in adult cattle and there
may be a sever systemic reaction manifested by fever lasting
for 2-3 days.
* Anaphylactic shock may occur and immediate treatment with
adrenaline hydrochloride ( 1m1. of 1 : 1000 diluted solution
injected subcutaneously ) or Antihistaminic drug, is also
recommended .

STORAGE AND EXPIRATION DATE :
Living lyophilized Br. Abortus strain 19 vaccine should be stored in a dry place protected from light at a temperature between 2 - 8 oc . The vaccine is valid for one year from the manufacture date.

PRECAUTIONS :
* The vaccine must be kept under refrigeration at all times, be
reconstituted only when required .
* It must be used in an aseptic manner to avoid its
contamination with other bacteria.
* Avoid accedental infection to human during the use of the
vaccine.
* The product is for animal use only and should not be used for
human .
* Empty and unused open vials and used
syringes must be disposed hygienically .
