| Summary |
| |
Three cattle calves and five sheep were vaccinated against FMD. The serum samples were collected weekly, titers were estimated using conventional ELISA and amplification ELISA system.

|
| |
| |
The results revealed that the mean antibody titer estimated by amplified ELISA system was higher than that estimated by conventional ELISA.

|
| |
| |
The results concluded the importance of using an accurate and sensitive amplified ELISA technique for detection of vaccinated and suspected animals with FMD virus. In this new enzyme detection method, Iabeled enzyme is used to catalyse the (NADP+) to NAD which activates strictly NAD- dependant redox cycle leading to the formation of a coloured product formazan dye.
