Summary

Anti-idiotype anibodies (AIA) were prepared to rinderpest (RP) and PPR viruses by using their hyperimmune sera (Id) . RP and PPR –AIA were standarized as being used for coating ELISA plates against serial diluions of their relevant hyperimmune sera.

Both types of AIA were utilized as a diagnostic antigens to assay cattle and sheep sera in comparison with the conventional viral antigens. Either RP or PPR –AIA proved to be as potential as their viral antigens in terms of the specificity and the sensitivity upon using as diagnostic antigens.

Moreover, RP-AIA managed to detect PPR antibodies with a higher efficacy than RP viral antigen and vice versa. Hence,anti-idiotype antibodies have been displaying agreat potentiality in diagnostic purposes over the traditional systems.
