Summary

In four forms, an inactivated bivalent vaccine was prepared against feline panleukopenia and rabies for cats. These forms were; mixed wet vaccine, mixed lyophilized vaccine, wet vaccine prepared by simultaneous inactivation of the two viruses and a lyophilized live attenuated feline panleukopenia dissolved in the wet inactivated rabies vaccine.

The protective dose of inactivated bivalent vaccines was detected depending on the estimation of the viral antigen protein in the protective doses which were previously detected for both of feline panleulkopenia and rabies vaccines. 3-5 months aged kittens in different groups were vaccinated with feline panleukopenia and rabies vaccines singly and with the prepared forms of bivalent vaccines. All vaccinated animals exhibited good levels of specific neutralizing.

Antibodies as detected by serum neutralization test without any antagonizing effect between the two virus vaccines on the immune response of cats. It was concluded that the bivalent feline panleukopenia and rabies vaccine is a safe and immunogenic vaccine for cats in any of the four prepared forms.
