| Summary |

The persent study was conducted on three strains of Babsia- bovis piroplasms isolated from three different geograpical regions in Egypt, namely behera, Kalubia and Sohag provinces. The main target of our study is to approach strain characterization and serotyping of B. bovis isolates to prepare an effecitve vaccine for the control and prophylaxis against bovine babesiosis in Egypt.

Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers generated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used. PCR identified different polymorphic bands between the three isolates.

The results revealed that the b. bovis isolates from Behera and sohag were more similar to each other where the lowest linkage distance recorded between them was 0.46 on the other hand the two isolates from Behera and kalubia were dissimilar from each other with highest linkage level (1.34).
These observations suggest the presence of phenotypic diversity among the three B. bovis isolates in Egypt.
