Summary

This study was applied as a trial to produce and evaluate the enhancement role of mineral oils as paraffin oil in inactivated FMD vaccine immunogeniicity. three groups of cattle were used in estimation of antibody response.

The first group was vaccinated with paraffin oil inactivated FMD vaccine. The second group was vaccinated with currently used vaccine (aluminum hydroxide gel inactivated FMD vaccine ) and the third group was kept as non vaccinated control. The immunizing efficacy of vaccinated groups were estimated weekly for the first month post vaccination and then every 2 weeks till the end of the experiment by using serum neuralization test (SNT) and enzyme linked immunosrbent assay (ELISA).

The results of the newly prepared vaccine revealed that the vaccine was safe strile and potent. The antibody titre was higher than that produced by FMD aluminum hydroxide gel vaccine.
