Summary

A combined vaccine was prepared against rabies and tetanus using the inactivated cellculture rabies virus (ERA strain )and the tetamus tetanus and the Athydragel was added as an adjuvant . Different groups of mice, rats and guinea pigs were vaccinated against rabies and tetanus singly and in a combined form where the passive haemagglutinaation, serum neutralization and challenge tests showed that all of these vaccinated animals exhibited good levels of specific antibodies against rabies and tetanus and withstood the virulent strains of both with a protection rate of 90 %.

Also there were no abnormal clinical signs noticed on the tested animals. Practication of these experiments was carried out on different groups of local breed hotses and donkeys using single and combined vaccine against rabies and tetanus.

Rabies and tetanus antibodies without any antagomsm between on immune response of tham to rabies antigen or tetanus toxoid. Vaccinated horses and donkeys did not show any abnormal clinical signs . So, the rabies and tetanus combined vaccine is a safe amd immunogenic vaccine and could protect equines agaimst the two diseases at the same time.
